Traditional Holiday Cottages Infrared Heating
Set amidst the beautiful rolling hills of Strathtay, Pitlochry are two traditional holiday cottages renovated to an exceptionally high standard. The owners of these holiday cottages were intrigued when they came across Redwell whilst looking for a heating solution. The simplicity, energy efficiency and aesthetics were all very appealing and considered to be the perfect complement to the high specification and interior design of the holiday lets. Equally important was to provide a maintenance free system and something that could easily be controlled by guests to optimise their comfort and holiday experience. Maximising floor space and flexibility in furniture layouts was an overwhelming factor in the decision to install Redwell infrared heating.
Assessment
The two bedroom holiday cottages in Strathtay are traditional stone built with no access to mains gas, typical of properties in this geographical location. The owners were concerned of the impact traditional radiators would have on space and wanted to avoid the expense of underfloor heating systems, boilers and the maintenance associated with wet systems.
They also wished to maintain a background temperature when the cottages were not occupied to ensure there was no damp or musty smells – Redwell could provide the perfect heating solution.
Recommended measures
In order to fulfil the clients requirements and ensure a reliable and effective central heating system was achieved we installed a range of Redwell infrared heating panels in every room.
- Consistency: Individual thermostat controls would allow each panel to be controlled with precision, creating consistent temperatures in each room.
- Installation: Redwell panels would be easily integrated – wall and ceiling mounted with power being pre-installed during the refurbishment.
- Reliability: Redwell panels come with a 90 month manufacturers warranty and require zero maintenance in comparison to typical convection heaters and boilers since they involve no moving parts.
- Appearance: Redwell infrared panels could be customised with bespoke printed designs to complement the interior décor and stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
- Space: Infrared panels free up valuable space due to their positioning, improving the opportunity for furniture layout - more space means less clutter throughout these holiday cottages.
Installation
We believe in "form" & "function" when it comes to Redwell heating and in order to fulfil the owners heating and furnishing requirements we installed a bespoke selection of Redwell infrared heating panels in both cottages. Some examples are:

- Entrance: R600 Mirrors providing a practical addition
- Thermostat control: Salus programmable thermostats used throughout.
Redwell also completed each cottage installation in one day, with a positive impact on programme of works.
Results
The new Redwell heating system has not only achieved the clients’ requirements to provide a practical heating system but has complimented the aesthetics and interior design whilst freeing up valuable wall space for furniture layouts.
Beautiful images of the surrounding areas, practical blackboards and dual functioning mirrors have added to the guests overall experience.
